Some advice for women about to experience labor

Become aware of your basic intuitions concerning your "already present" natural ability to give birth. This involves exploring your feelings about giving birth, and deciding how you will cope with your labor. Attend an in-person childbirth class, and a breastfeeding class or, watch online classes, to become more knowledgeable about the birth process (knowledge decreases fear). Eat a nutritious pregnancy recommended diet, and stay fit by doing prenatal yoga, walking or other exercise daily, although make sure that the activity you choose is ok with your healthcare professional, i.e OB/GYN, Osteopath, Family Physician, or Midwife first. Staying fit in pregnancy will help you when your labor begins.

Some advice when using "Focus For Your Baby" products:

Involve your partners and labor support persons!(The persons present to help you during your birth, such as your partner, family members, doula, or other birth professionals). They can move or re-position the focal point stickers for you if needed. Let them be involved in the labor process by having them attach the focal point pins, or clips to their clothing, or have them wear a focal point pendant.

Just don’t forget to let your support persons know that "they are one of your focal points" while they are wearing the pins, clips or pendants so that they do not cover them up when you are using this focal point.

Let your birth professionals know that you are using focal points to help you in labor, and ask permission of where to place them. If the stickers are placed on an IV pole, or other movable object in your room, let your labor support persons and birth professionals know so that they do not move the IV pole, or object, and that you or your support person/s can re-position the sticker elsewhere if needed. It is also best to place the stickers out of the reach of small children who may enter your room.

Best of wishes, and early congratulations on your up-coming labor, birth and becoming new parents!
